Montenegro: Boats on the Water

The Study Abroad Department just finished our fall 2012 photo contest and here is one of our winning photos:

Montenegro

This photo above was taken in the newly independent country of Montenegro in the old port town of Kotor– the whole town, even more inland, was a Mediterranean masterpiece.

I have to thank my professor of “Balkan Politics” at The American University of Rome for the rare field study opportunity that awaited in the restructured nations of Serbia and Montenegro. Aside from political discussions with local key players at the former Yugoslavian Parliament House and with the only non-regulated radio station, we took time to have a scenic drive winding down the mountains for a few hours until we reached Kotor and the town of Stari Grad at the very bottom tip of the Dalmatian Coast. Here, we were able to see some of Europe’s true natural beauty.
